It is a primary duty of the court in a jury case to see that the jury are not allowed to guess at facts. Welshausen v. Parker Co.,83 Conn. 231, 234, 76 A. 271. I agree with the trial court that there was no reasonable evidence upon which the jury could have determined the length of time that the substance upon which the plaintiff claimed to have slipped had been upon the sidewalk.
