I concur, with the observation that the combination of the speedy trial rule (which in my view should be amended to only apply to a defendant who asks for a speedy trial or is languishing in jail) and sheer carelessness have combined to free what looks to me to be a very ugly customer. I am sorry we are helpless to prevent it.
